''Paraphaeosphaeria pilleata'' is a species of fungus in the Lophiostomataceae family. The species fruits exclusively in the lower parts of the culms of the black needlerush (''Juncus roemerianus''). It is found on the Atlantic Coast of North Carolina. ==Taxonomy and naming== The species was first described by mycologists Jan Kohlmeyer, Brigitte Volkmann-Kohlmeyer, and Ove Eriksson in a 1996 ''Mycological Research'' publication. The specific epithet is derived from Latin ''pilleatus'' ("capped"), and refers to the small cap on the top of the ascus.〔
